Drawing

In these recent pieces, I am responding to what is happening in our human dominated environment by drawing birds, plants, and other living organisms at moments of transformation and adaptation.  “Winged Detonations” depicts the moment the acute pressure of human destruction and denial bursts- the explosion, scattering, and iridescent fragility of hummingbirds signify nature.  In pieces “Hummingbird Chrysanthemum 1″, and “Hummingbird Chrysanthemum 2″, and “Ultraluminaria”, the bodies of flowers and birds become one, entangling into a new, symbiotic form. Finally,  planets embodying the union of species float by in “Planetary Beings,” demonstrating the interconnectedness of all beings at a universal scale.  From destruction to rebirth, the works represent nature’s calamities, resilience, and power to heal.
